Art Book, a tribute to Miró the printmaker

The front and back covers of the Art Book are made of 0.8 mm stainless steel, assembled from three joined aluminum pieces. The set reproduces the plates of engravings numbers 10 and 4, used for the etching technique. They recreate the marks left by acid and traces of ink, imitating the imperfections of the original plates.

The preservation of the original plates has made it possible to faithfully reproduce all 33 engravings, in which the sun, the moon, the stars, wind, water, fire, and earth become the true protagonists of a story that invites us to contemplate the beauty of nature.

The life and works of the artist, through the eyes of experts

The Study Book explores the many creative facets of Joan Miró, with special attention to his graphic work, his role as a printmaker, and an in-depth analysis of Canticle of the Sun. Through texts by experts such as Mercedes Durban Monreal, Robert Lubar Messeri, and Jacques Dalarun, it offers a critical, aesthetic, and emotional reading of the series.

The case: from engraving to volume

The set is presented in a lacquered case that recreates, in volume, engraving number 20 from the series, featuring water as the central element. It is composed of two pieces and includes Miró’s signature drawn in white inkjet printing. The interior, lined with soft felt, protects the two volumes of the work.

Limited and numbered edition, handcrafted

Canticle of the Sun has been handcrafted, numbered, and limited to 2,998 copies. Created in collaboration with the Successió Miró of Palma, it coincides with a triple anniversary: the 50th anniversary of Miró’s series and the inauguration of the Fundació Joan Miró (1975), and the 800th anniversary of the Franciscan poem.
